Musical artist and cannabis aficionado Louis Freese, a.k.a. B. Real and frontman of musical group Cypress Hill opens his flagship cannabis dispensary Wednesday in Sylmar, California, in an all-day grand opening blowout. The party will feature a slew of surprise guests throughout the day.
Named Dr. Greenthumb after Cypress Hill’s eponymous song, which has been a rallying cry for the cannabis community since its release in 1998, the dispensary is the first in a chain, with the second slated to open in Cathedral City later this year.
Though Cypress Hill’s love of marijuana has never been in dispute, B. Real’s support for legalization has, at least in the form of Proposition 64. Back then the artist argued against the bill, claiming that it would favor big business over small entrepreneurs.
Almost a full city block in size, the dispensary will also be the headquarters of B-Real TV.
“We have a lot of history behind us as it relates to music and the pro-legalization movement. It’s a blessing to put down roots of our first storefront in our backyard and serving our community with a premium cannabis experience,” says B Real.
The store will feature more than forty strains of B. Real’s “INSANE” brand of cannabis created by cannabis cultivation expert Kenji Fujishima, as well as monthly limited edition flavors, along with signature Dr. Greenthumb apparel. The store will also carry B. Real’s Phuncky Feel Tips, a line of glass tips designed as mouthpieces for hand-rolled joints.
