Combination Golf Course and Marijuana Farm Could be Coming to Michigan

Jan 13, 2018

A Michigan golf course, Southmoor Golf Club in the City of Burton, is trying to change the zoning for 37 of its approximately 95 acres of land to allow the construction of a large-scale, $60 million marijuana growing facility, including multiple grow houses, a processing center, a biomass power plant, and conversion of the clubhouse into a dispensary.

Citing a decline in the sport of golf, the owner has been seeking other development uses for the grounds, and is talking to CannaDevelopment, which has experience in other large marijuana construction projects, to lead the project.

It is not clear whether the golf course would continue to exist alongside the marijuana farm, but with approximately 60 acres of land remaining, it is a possibility.
