A Colorado marijuana dispensary is opening the world’s first combination pot dispensary and gas station. Medical marijuana users will now be able to buy their pot while filling their gas tanks in Colorado Springs.
The Gas and Grass all in one, is the first of its kind in the state. After holding a soft opening Thursday, the hybrid weed business is now officially open for business. The gas station is adjacent to a Native Roots medical marijuana dispensary. Native Roots owns a dozen medicinal marijuana facilities and claims to be the first to pair fuel with cannabis.
Colorado does not allow cannabis shops to sell non-marijuana products, the gas station will feature two distinct entrances, one for the dispensary side and the other for the gas.
Recreational users will be out of luck, although they can purchase gas at the station, only those with a medical prescription will be allowed to purchase their cannabis at the dispensary. As an added incentive, patients that shop at Native Roots will get discounts on their gas, similar to a grocery store loyalty program.
Native Roots spokesperson Tia Mattson said, “It’s really just kind of pairing the convenience in one specific stop,” Native Roots plans to open a second Colorado Springs location next month.
